Barangay Gabon

Barangay Gabon is a large barangay in the municipality of Abucay, located in the province of Bataan, in the Central Luzon region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Gabon had a population of 5,707. This made it the 3rd largest of 9 barangays in Abucay by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Gabon accounted for approximately 13.28% of the total population of Abucay, which stood at 42,984 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 5,405 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 5,707 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +5.6%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Gabon is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Abucay is a municipality comprising 9 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Gabon, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Bataan, which contains 237 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Gabon ranks 47th by 2020 population. Bataan is classified as a 1st by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
