Barangay Poblacion

Classified as a mid-sized barangay, Barangay Poblacion is one of the administrative divisions of Alcoy in Cebu, Central Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Poblacion had a population of 3,943. This made it the 1st largest of 8 barangays in Alcoy by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion accounted for approximately 20.55% of the total population of Alcoy, which stood at 19,186 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Poblacion changed from 3,610 to 3,943, a shift of +9.2% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Alcoy. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Poblacion as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Alcoy is a municipality comprising 8 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
