Barangay Bessang

Barangay Bessang is a small barangay in the municipality of Allacapan, located in the province of Cagayan, in the Cagayan Valley region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Bessang had a population of 1,138. This made it the 16th largest of 27 barangays in Allacapan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bessang accounted for approximately 3.23% of the total population of Allacapan, which stood at 35,234 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Bessang moving from 1,243 residents to 1,138 residents, an intercensal change of -8.4%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. Barangay Bessang is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
