Barangay Backiling

Barangay Backiling forms part of Aparri, a municipality in Cagayan, and is classified as a small barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Backiling had a population of 1,247. This made it the 19th largest of 42 barangays in Aparri by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Backiling accounted for approximately 1.81% of the total population of Aparri, which stood at 68,839 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,208 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,247 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +3.2%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Backiling is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Aparri is a municipality comprising 42 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Backiling, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Cagayan, which contains 820 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Backiling ranks 395th by 2020 population.
