Barangay Galongen

Situated in Bacnotan, La Union, Barangay Galongen is one of 47 barangays that make up the municipality within Ilocos Region.

This made it the 11th largest of 47 barangays in Bacnotan by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Galongen accounted for approximately 2.61% of the total population of Bacnotan, which stood at 44,388 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Galongen moving from 1,037 residents to 1,157 residents, an intercensal change of +11.6%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Galongen as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
