Situated in Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat, Barangay Sison is one of 19 barangays that make up the municipality within SOCCSKSARGEN.

This made it the 10th largest of 19 barangays in Bagumbayan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Sison changed from 2,327 to 2,681, a shift of +15.2% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Bagumbayan. Barangay Sison is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Bagumbayan is a municipality comprising 19 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Sison, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
