Barangay Poblacion IV

Barangay Poblacion IV is a small barangay in the municipality of Balangkayan, located in the province of Eastern Samar, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Poblacion IV had a population of 858. This made it the 4th largest of 15 barangays in Balangkayan by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Poblacion IV accounted for approximately 8.42% of the total population of Balangkayan, which stood at 10,185 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Poblacion IV changed from 844 to 858, a shift of +1.7% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with slowly expanding populations in Balangkayan. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Poblacion IV as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Balangkayan is a municipality comprising 15 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Poblacion IV, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
