Barangay Mapua

Barangay Mapua is a small barangay in the municipality of Balingoan, located in the province of Misamis Oriental, in the Northern Mindanao region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Mapua had a population of 889. This made it the 6th largest of 9 barangays in Balingoan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Mapua accounted for approximately 8.07% of the total population of Balingoan, which stood at 11,020 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Mapua changed from 831 to 889, a shift of +7.0% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Balingoan. Barangay Mapua is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Balingoan is a municipality comprising 9 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Mapua, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
