Barangay Balawis

Barangay Balawis forms part of Banaue, a municipality in Ifugao, and is classified as a small barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Balawis had a population of 767. This made it the 13th largest of 18 barangays in Banaue by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Balawis accounted for approximately 3.71% of the total population of Banaue, which stood at 20,652 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Balawis changed from 929 to 767, a shift of -17.4% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Banaue. Barangay Balawis is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Banaue is a municipality comprising 18 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Balawis, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Ifugao, which contains 176 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Balawis ranks 115th by 2020 population.
