Barangay Luyongbaybay

Situated in Bantayan, Cebu, Barangay Luyongbaybay is one of 25 barangays that make up the municipality within Central Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Luyongbaybay had a population of 1,607. This made it the 23rd largest of 25 barangays in Bantayan by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Luyongbaybay accounted for approximately 1.86% of the total population of Bantayan, which stood at 86,247 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,423 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,607 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +12.9%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Luyongbaybay as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Bantayan is a municipality comprising 25 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Luyongbaybay, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
