Barangay Linao

Barangay Linao is a small barangay in the municipality of Barotac Nuevo, located in the province of Iloilo, in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Linao had a population of 561. This made it the 29th largest of 29 barangays in Barotac Nuevo by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Linao accounted for approximately 0.96% of the total population of Barotac Nuevo, which stood at 58,176 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Linao changed from 482 to 561, a shift of +16.4% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Barotac Nuevo. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Linao as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Barotac Nuevo is a municipality comprising 29 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Linao, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Iloilo, which contains 1,901 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Linao ranks 1221st by 2020 population.
