Situated in Bauang, La Union, Barangay Paringao is one of 39 barangays that make up the municipality within Ilocos Region.

This made it the 2nd largest of 39 barangays in Bauang by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Paringao accounted for approximately 5.39% of the total population of Bauang, which stood at 78,449 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Paringao changed from 4,044 to 4,229, a shift of +4.6% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Bauang. Barangay Paringao is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Bauang is a municipality comprising 39 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Paringao, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
