Barangay Maitim

Classified as a mid-sized barangay, Barangay Maitim is one of the administrative divisions of Bay in Laguna, CALABARZON, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Maitim had a population of 4,657. This made it the 6th largest of 15 barangays in Bay by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Maitim accounted for approximately 6.93% of the total population of Bay, which stood at 67,182 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 4,525 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 4,657 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +2.9%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Maitim is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Bay is a municipality comprising 15 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Maitim, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Laguna, which contains 681 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Maitim ranks 187th by 2020 population. Barangay Maitim is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
