Barangay Baking

Classified as a very small barangay, Barangay Baking is one of the administrative divisions of Bayog in Zamboanga Del Sur, Zamboanga Peninsula, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Baking had a population of 355. This made it the 28th largest of 28 barangays in Bayog by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Baking accounted for approximately 1.03% of the total population of Bayog, which stood at 34,519 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Baking changed from 329 to 355, a shift of +7.9% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Bayog. Barangay Baking is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Bayog is a municipality comprising 28 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Baking, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Zamboanga Del Sur, which contains 779 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Baking ranks 667th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
