Barangay Hugpa East

Situated in Burauen, Leyte, Barangay Hugpa East is one of 77 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Hugpa East had a population of 281. This made it the 67th largest of 77 barangays in Burauen by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Hugpa East accounted for approximately 0.54% of the total population of Burauen, which stood at 52,511 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 253 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 281 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +11.1%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Hugpa East as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Burauen is a municipality comprising 77 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Hugpa East, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
