Barangay Malabca

Situated in Burauen, Leyte, Barangay Malabca is one of 77 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Malabca had a population of 1,112. This made it the 10th largest of 77 barangays in Burauen by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Malabca accounted for approximately 2.12% of the total population of Burauen, which stood at 52,511 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Malabca changed from 1,111 to 1,112, a shift of +0.1% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with slowly expanding populations in Burauen. Barangay Malabca is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Burauen is a municipality comprising 77 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Malabca, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
