Barangay Paitan

Barangay Paitan is a very small barangay in the municipality of Burauen, located in the province of Leyte, in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Paitan had a population of 340. This made it the 59th largest of 77 barangays in Burauen by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Paitan accounted for approximately 0.65% of the total population of Burauen, which stood at 52,511 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Paitan moving from 350 residents to 340 residents, an intercensal change of -2.9%. The trajectory indicates a contracting community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Paitan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Burauen is a municipality comprising 77 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Paitan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
