Barangay Sambel

Classified as a small barangay, Barangay Sambel is one of the administrative divisions of Burauen in Leyte, Eastern Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Sambel had a population of 912. This made it the 14th largest of 77 barangays in Burauen by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Sambel accounted for approximately 1.74% of the total population of Burauen, which stood at 52,511 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Sambel moving from 318 residents to 912 residents, an intercensal change of +186.8%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Sambel as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
