Barangay Matin-ao

Barangay Matin-ao is a very small barangay in the municipality of Burgos, located in the province of Surigao Del Norte, in the Caraga region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Matin-ao had a population of 294. This made it the 6th largest of 6 barangays in Burgos by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Matin-ao accounted for approximately 7.03% of the total population of Burgos, which stood at 4,185 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 288 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 294 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +2.1%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Matin-ao as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Burgos is a municipality comprising 6 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Matin-ao, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Surigao Del Norte, which contains 335 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Matin-ao ranks 325th by 2020 population.
