Situated in Cabatuan, Iloilo, Barangay Bacan is one of 68 barangays that make up the municipality within Western Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Bacan had a population of 1,793. This made it the 9th largest of 68 barangays in Cabatuan by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bacan accounted for approximately 2.93% of the total population of Cabatuan, which stood at 61,110 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,596 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,793 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +12.3%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Bacan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Cabatuan is a municipality comprising 68 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bacan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
