Barangay Bulao

Situated in Calbiga, Samar, Barangay Bulao is one of 41 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Bulao had a population of 380. This made it the 23rd largest of 41 barangays in Calbiga by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bulao accounted for approximately 1.63% of the total population of Calbiga, which stood at 23,310 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 268 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 380 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +41.8%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Bulao is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Calbiga is a municipality comprising 41 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bulao, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
