Barangay Malabal

Situated in Calbiga, Samar, Barangay Malabal is one of 41 barangays that make up the municipality within Eastern Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Malabal had a population of 1,253. This made it the 4th largest of 41 barangays in Calbiga by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Malabal accounted for approximately 5.38% of the total population of Calbiga, which stood at 23,310 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Malabal changed from 1,152 to 1,253, a shift of +8.8% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in Calbiga. Barangay Malabal is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Calbiga is a municipality comprising 41 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Malabal, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
