Situated in Calintaan, Occidental Mindoro, Barangay Tanyag is one of 7 barangays that make up the municipality within MIMAROPA Region.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Tanyag had a population of 3,727. This made it the 5th largest of 7 barangays in Calintaan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Tanyag accounted for approximately 12.35% of the total population of Calintaan, which stood at 30,190 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 3,930 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 3,727 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -5.2%, consistent with a contracting settlement. Barangay Tanyag is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Calintaan is a municipality comprising 7 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Tanyag, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
