Barangay San Luis

Classified as a mid-sized barangay, Barangay San Luis is one of the administrative divisions of Capul in Northern Samar, Eastern Visayas, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay San Luis had a population of 2,088. This made it the 2nd largest of 12 barangays in Capul by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay San Luis accounted for approximately 16.94% of the total population of Capul, which stood at 12,323 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,040 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,088 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +2.4%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay San Luis is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Capul is a municipality comprising 12 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay San Luis, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Northern Samar, which contains 569 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay San Luis ranks 71st by 2020 population. Northern Samar is classified as a 2nd by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

Barangay San Luis is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
