Barangay Bangkerohan

Barangay Bangkerohan forms part of Catarman, a municipality in Northern Samar, and is classified as a mid-sized barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Bangkerohan had a population of 2,553. This made it the 12th largest of 55 barangays in Catarman by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bangkerohan accounted for approximately 2.61% of the total population of Catarman, which stood at 97,879 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,262 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,553 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +12.9%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Bangkerohan is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

Catarman is a municipality comprising 55 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bangkerohan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Northern Samar, which contains 569 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Bangkerohan ranks 42nd by 2020 population. Northern Samar is classified as a 2nd by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

Barangay Bangkerohan is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
