Barangay Binongkalan

Situated in Catmon, Cebu, Barangay Binongkalan is one of 20 barangays that make up the municipality within Central Visayas.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Binongkalan had a population of 1,814. This made it the 7th largest of 20 barangays in Catmon by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Binongkalan accounted for approximately 5.38% of the total population of Catmon, which stood at 33,745 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,587 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,814 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +14.3%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Binongkalan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Catmon is a municipality comprising 20 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Binongkalan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Cebu, which contains 1,203 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Binongkalan ranks 581st by 2020 population.
