Barangay Hilapnitan

Barangay Hilapnitan forms part of City of Baybay, a city in Leyte, and is classified as a mid-sized barangay.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Hilapnitan had a population of 2,132. This made it the 17th largest of 92 barangays in City of Baybay by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay Hilapnitan accounted for approximately 1.91% of the total population of City of Baybay, which stood at 111,848 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,025 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,132 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +5.3%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Hilapnitan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Baybay is a city comprising 92 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Hilapnitan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
