Barangay Gamao

Situated in City of Bayugan, Agusan Del Sur, Barangay Gamao is one of 43 barangays that make up the city within Caraga.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Gamao had a population of 1,172. This made it the 29th largest of 43 barangays in City of Bayugan by population, placing it in the middle tier of the city. Residents of Barangay Gamao accounted for approximately 1.07% of the total population of City of Bayugan, which stood at 109,499 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,096 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,172 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +6.9%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Gamao as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Bayugan is a city comprising 43 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Gamao, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
