Barangay Igang

Situated in City of Masbate, Masbate, Barangay Igang is one of 30 barangays that make up the city within Bicol Region.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Igang had a population of 2,045. This made it the 19th largest of 30 barangays in City of Masbate by population, placing it in the middle tier of the city. Residents of Barangay Igang accounted for approximately 1.96% of the total population of City of Masbate, which stood at 104,522 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 1,771 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,045 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +15.5%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Igang is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Masbate is a city comprising 30 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Igang, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
