Barangay Malinta

Situated in City of Masbate, Masbate, Barangay Malinta is one of 30 barangays that make up the city within Bicol Region.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Malinta had a population of 4,651. This made it the 8th largest of 30 barangays in City of Masbate by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay Malinta accounted for approximately 4.45% of the total population of City of Masbate, which stood at 104,522 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 4,153 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 4,651 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +12.0%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Malinta as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Masbate is a city comprising 30 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Malinta, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
