Barangay Dao

Barangay Dao forms part of City of Pagadian, a city in Zamboanga Del Sur, and is classified as a large barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Dao had a population of 6,479. This made it the 12th largest of 54 barangays in City of Pagadian by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay Dao accounted for approximately 3.08% of the total population of City of Pagadian, which stood at 210,452 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Dao changed from 5,818 to 6,479, a shift of +11.4% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in City of Pagadian. Barangay Dao is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Pagadian is a city comprising 54 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Dao, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Zamboanga Del Sur, which contains 779 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Dao ranks 19th by 2020 population. Barangay Dao is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
