Barangay Deborok

Barangay Deborok is a small barangay in the City of Pagadian, located in the province of Zamboanga Del Sur, in the Zamboanga Peninsula region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Deborok had a population of 998. This made it the 48th largest of 54 barangays in City of Pagadian by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Deborok accounted for approximately 0.47% of the total population of City of Pagadian, which stood at 210,452 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Deborok changed from 1,249 to 998, a shift of -20.1% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in City of Pagadian. Barangay Deborok is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Pagadian is a city comprising 54 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Deborok, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Zamboanga Del Sur, which contains 779 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Deborok ranks 373rd by 2020 population. Barangay Deborok is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
