Barangay Bangbangolan

Barangay Bangbangolan is a small barangay in the City of San Fernando, located in the province of La Union, in the Ilocos Region region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Bangbangolan had a population of 634. This made it the 45th largest of 59 barangays in City of San Fernando by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Bangbangolan accounted for approximately 0.50% of the total population of City of San Fernando, which stood at 125,640 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 593 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 634 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +6.9%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Bangbangolan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of San Fernando is a city comprising 59 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Bangbangolan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of La Union, which contains 576 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Bangbangolan ranks 488th by 2020 population.
