Barangay Macabog

Barangay Macabog forms part of City of Sorsogon, a city in Sorsogon, and is classified as a mid-sized barangay.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Macabog had a population of 4,392. This made it the 11th largest of 64 barangays in City of Sorsogon by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay Macabog accounted for approximately 2.41% of the total population of City of Sorsogon, which stood at 182,237 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 3,643 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 4,392 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +20.6%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Macabog as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Sorsogon is a city comprising 64 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Macabog, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
