Barangay San Roque

Classified as a mid-sized barangay, Barangay San Roque is one of the administrative divisions of City of Sorsogon in Sorsogon, Bicol Region, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay San Roque had a population of 3,636. This made it the 13th largest of 64 barangays in City of Sorsogon by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay San Roque accounted for approximately 2.00% of the total population of City of Sorsogon, which stood at 182,237 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 3,059 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 3,636 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +18.9%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay San Roque is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Sorsogon is a city comprising 64 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay San Roque, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Sorsogon, which contains 541 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay San Roque ranks 28th by 2020 population. Sorsogon is classified as a 2nd by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

Barangay San Roque is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
