Barangay Canlanipa

Classified as a large barangay, Barangay Canlanipa is one of the administrative divisions of City of Surigao in Surigao Del Norte, Caraga, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Canlanipa had a population of 11,636. This made it the 5th largest of 54 barangays in City of Surigao by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Canlanipa accounted for approximately 6.80% of the total population of City of Surigao, which stood at 171,107 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Canlanipa changed from 9,697 to 11,636, a shift of +20.0% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in City of Surigao. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Canlanipa as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Surigao is a city comprising 54 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Canlanipa, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Surigao Del Norte, which contains 335 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Canlanipa ranks 5th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
