Barangay Nonoc

Barangay Nonoc is a small barangay in the City of Surigao, located in the province of Surigao Del Norte, in the Caraga region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Nonoc had a population of 1,107. This made it the 34th largest of 54 barangays in City of Surigao by population, placing it in the middle tier of the city. Residents of Barangay Nonoc accounted for approximately 0.65% of the total population of City of Surigao, which stood at 171,107 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Nonoc changed from 1,310 to 1,107, a shift of -15.5% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in City of Surigao. Barangay Nonoc is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Surigao is a city comprising 54 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Nonoc, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Surigao Del Norte, which contains 335 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Nonoc ranks 153rd by 2020 population. Surigao Del Norte is classified as a 2nd by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

Barangay Nonoc is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
