Barangay San Juan

Classified as a very large barangay, Barangay San Juan is one of the administrative divisions of City of Surigao in Surigao Del Norte, Caraga, Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay San Juan had a population of 16,565. This made it the 3rd largest of 54 barangays in City of Surigao by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay San Juan accounted for approximately 9.68% of the total population of City of Surigao, which stood at 171,107 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 14,925 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 16,565 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +11.0%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay San Juan is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Surigao is a city comprising 54 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay San Juan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Surigao Del Norte, which contains 335 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay San Juan ranks 3rd by 2020 population. Surigao Del Norte is classified as a 2nd by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

Barangay San Juan is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
