Barangay Sidlakan

Barangay Sidlakan is a very small barangay in the City of Surigao, located in the province of Surigao Del Norte, in the Caraga region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Sidlakan had a population of 331. This made it the 52nd largest of 54 barangays in City of Surigao by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Sidlakan accounted for approximately 0.19% of the total population of City of Surigao, which stood at 171,107 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 307 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 331 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +7.8%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay Sidlakan is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

City of Surigao is a city comprising 54 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Sidlakan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Surigao Del Norte, which contains 335 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Sidlakan ranks 319th by 2020 population. Surigao Del Norte is classified as a 2nd by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

Barangay Sidlakan is governed by an elected Sangguniang Barangay composed of a Punong Barangay and seven kagawads, with the Sangguniang Kabataan representing the youth. The next BSKE, set for Monday, November 2, 2026, will elect officials to four-year terms as provided under Republic Act No. 12232.
