Barangay Washington (Pob.) forms part of City of Surigao, a city in Surigao Del Norte, and is classified as a very large barangay.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Washington (Pob.) had a population of 19,319. This made it the 1st largest of 54 barangays in City of Surigao by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Washington (Pob.) accounted for approximately 11.29% of the total population of City of Surigao, which stood at 171,107 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 18,900 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 19,319 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +2.2%, consistent with a growing settlement. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Washington (Pob.) as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Surigao is a city comprising 54 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Washington (Pob.), including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Surigao Del Norte, which contains 335 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Washington (Pob.) ranks 1st by 2020 population.
