Barangay Migcanaway

Barangay Migcanaway is a mid-sized barangay in the City of Tangub, located in the province of Misamis Occidental, in the Northern Mindanao region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Migcanaway had a population of 2,649. This made it the 5th largest of 55 barangays in City of Tangub by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Migcanaway accounted for approximately 3.87% of the total population of City of Tangub, which stood at 68,389 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 2,791 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 2,649 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -5.1%, consistent with a contracting settlement. Barangay Migcanaway is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Tangub is a city comprising 55 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Migcanaway, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Misamis Occidental, which contains 490 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Migcanaway ranks 43rd by 2020 population. Misamis Occidental is classified as a 2nd by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

Like every Philippine barangay, Barangay Migcanaway is led by an elected Punong Barangay (barangay captain) supported by seven Sangguniang Barangay members (kagawads), an SK Chairperson, a Barangay Secretary, and a Barangay Treasurer. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
