Barangay Tongko

Barangay Tongko forms part of City of Tayabas, a city in Quezon, and is classified as a mid-sized barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Tongko had a population of 2,023. This made it the 17th largest of 66 barangays in City of Tayabas by population, placing it in the upper half of the city. Residents of Barangay Tongko accounted for approximately 1.80% of the total population of City of Tayabas, which stood at 112,658 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Tongko changed from 1,748 to 2,023, a shift of +15.7% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with growing populations in City of Tayabas. Barangay Tongko is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Tayabas is a city comprising 66 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Tongko, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Quezon, which contains 1,242 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Tongko ranks 299th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
