Barangay Wakas

Barangay Wakas is a large barangay in the City of Tayabas, located in the province of Quezon, in the CALABARZON region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Wakas had a population of 7,168. This made it the 2nd largest of 66 barangays in City of Tayabas by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the city. Residents of Barangay Wakas accounted for approximately 6.36% of the total population of City of Tayabas, which stood at 112,658 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Wakas moving from 5,068 residents to 7,168 residents, an intercensal change of +41.4%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Wakas is officially classified as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.

City of Tayabas is a city comprising 66 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Wakas, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Quezon, which contains 1,242 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Wakas ranks 21st by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
