Barangay Cabunga-an

Barangay Cabunga-an forms part of Clarin, a municipality in Misamis Occidental, and is classified as a very small barangay.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Cabunga-an had a population of 468. This made it the 26th largest of 29 barangays in Clarin by population, placing it among the smaller barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Cabunga-an accounted for approximately 1.19% of the total population of Clarin, which stood at 39,356 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 482 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 468 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of -2.9%, consistent with a contracting settlement. Barangay Cabunga-an is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Clarin is a municipality comprising 29 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Cabunga-an, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Misamis Occidental, which contains 490 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Cabunga-an ranks 406th by 2020 population. Misamis Occidental is classified as a 2nd by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, a category that reflects the province's annual regular income.

The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
