Barangay New Lourdes

Situated in Cortes, Bohol, Barangay New Lourdes is one of 14 barangays that make up the municipality within Central Visayas.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay New Lourdes had a population of 1,239. This made it the 7th largest of 14 barangays in Cortes by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay New Lourdes accounted for approximately 6.75% of the total population of Cortes, which stood at 18,344 in the same census year.

The barangay recorded 977 residents in the 2015 intercensal count and 1,239 residents in the 2020 Census — a net change of +26.8%, consistent with a growing settlement. Barangay New Lourdes is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Cortes is a municipality comprising 14 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay New Lourdes, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Bohol, which contains 1,109 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay New Lourdes ranks 372nd by 2020 population.
