Barangay Saloagan

Situated in Dimataling, Zamboanga Del Sur, Barangay Saloagan is one of 24 barangays that make up the municipality within Zamboanga Peninsula.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Saloagan had a population of 2,294. This made it the 3rd largest of 24 barangays in Dimataling by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Saloagan accounted for approximately 7.32% of the total population of Dimataling, which stood at 31,340 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Saloagan changed from 2,367 to 2,294, a shift of -3.1% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Dimataling. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Saloagan as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Dimataling is a municipality comprising 24 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Saloagan, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration.
