Barangay Bag-ong Silao

Situated in Dumalinao, Zamboanga Del Sur, Barangay Bag-ong Silao is one of 30 barangays that make up the municipality within Zamboanga Peninsula.

According to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority, Barangay Bag-ong Silao had a population of 713. This made it the 20th largest of 30 barangays in Dumalinao by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Bag-ong Silao accounted for approximately 2.17% of the total population of Dumalinao, which stood at 32,928 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Bag-ong Silao changed from 967 to 713, a shift of -26.3% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Dumalinao. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Bag-ong Silao as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
