Barangay Salug

Barangay Salug is a small barangay in the municipality of Esperanza, located in the province of Agusan Del Sur, in the Caraga region of the Philippines.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Salug had a population of 1,433. This made it the 17th largest of 47 barangays in Esperanza by population, placing it in the middle tier of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Salug accounted for approximately 2.41% of the total population of Esperanza, which stood at 59,353 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Salug moving from 1,238 residents to 1,433 residents, an intercensal change of +15.8%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. Barangay Salug is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.
