Barangay Calimugtong

Situated in Galimuyod, Ilocos Sur, Barangay Calimugtong is one of 24 barangays that make up the municipality within Ilocos Region.

According to the 2020 Philippine census, Barangay Calimugtong had a population of 471. This made it the 7th largest of 24 barangays in Galimuyod by population, placing it in the upper half of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Calimugtong accounted for approximately 4.60% of the total population of Galimuyod, which stood at 10,244 in the same census year.

Between the 2015 and 2020 censuses, the population of Barangay Calimugtong changed from 507 to 471, a shift of -7.1% over the five-year period. This places the barangay among those with contracting populations in Galimuyod. Barangay Calimugtong is officially classified as rural, a designation applied to barangays with lower population density and predominantly non-built-up land use.

Galimuyod is a municipality comprising 24 barangays, and serves as the governing unit directly responsible for local services in Barangay Calimugtong, including public health, sanitation, peace and order, and civil registration. Within the wider province of Ilocos Sur, which contains 768 barangays across its component cities and municipalities, Barangay Calimugtong ranks 598th by 2020 population. The next Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) are scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026, with officials serving four-year terms under Republic Act No. 12232.
