This made it the 2nd largest of 44 barangays in Gerona by population, placing it among the most populous barangays of the municipality. Residents of Barangay Abagon accounted for approximately 4.95% of the total population of Gerona, which stood at 94,485 in the same census year.

Census comparisons between 2015 and 2020 show Barangay Abagon moving from 4,428 residents to 4,678 residents, an intercensal change of +5.6%. The trajectory indicates a growing community. The Philippine Statistics Authority classifies Barangay Abagon as urban, reflecting the density and built-up character of the area.
